SURGIFOAM Absorbable Gelatin Sponge is a sterile, water-insoluble, malleable porcine gelatin sponge designed to assist with hemostasis during surgical procedures. It provides a matrix for platelet adhesion and aggregation to help control capillary, venous, and arteriolar bleeding when conventional methods are ineffective or impractical. The sponge can be used dry or saturated with sterile sodium chloride solution and is intended for surgical procedures except ophthalmic applications.
